Building Application - Extensions to Dwelling (Class 1a)

This application is only for the lodgement of extensions to an existing dwelling.
e.g. lounge room, bedroom, bathrooms, etc.

  • Online applications can be made via desktop or laptop devices. Mobile devices (e.g. smartphones, tablets) are not currently supported.
  • Please allow 5-10 business days for assessment of your Building Application. This time frame may increase if further information or approvals are required.
  • In order for your application to be considered, you will need to attach digital copies of required documents.
    All of these documents will need to be combined into a single PDF document for upload:
    • IDAS Forms Part 1 & Part 2
    • Structural Plans including site plan (these are required to be stamped by an Engineer and Form 15 attached)
    • Energy efficiency compliance calculations and certificate for additions to a dwelling (if works equal 50% or more of existing floor area)
    • Sewer Main Plan
    • QBCC Confirmation of Insurance Certificate builder to obtain for work over $3301 - (owner builders are exempt)
    • Owner builder permit (only required if works exceed $11,000)
    • QLeave - (Portable Long Service Leave) - Residential construction over $150,000 - Builders - Form and payment to be made at the Post Office - Owner builders must submit the form; however, no fee is required.
    NB - At the Certifiers Discretion
    • You may be required to supply a Soil Report for additions to a dwelling (Class 1a)
  • Fees and charges.
  • Upon successful receipt of the application and payment, a Tax Invoice will be forwarded via email within 2 business days.
