TPI Parking Permit Application
- Online applications can be made via desktop or laptop devices. Mobile devices (e.g. smartphones, tablets) are not currently supported.
- Each permit application is for one vehicle only.
- Provided all of the correct information and documentation is supplied, Council will process your application and send you a confirmation email within 2 business days, and the permit will be mailed to you.
- If information and /or supporting documentation is incorrect, you will be contacted to provide correct information. In order for your application to be considered, you will need to attach digital copies of:
- Your current vehicle Certificate of Registration/Renewal Notice, and
- Your Driver's Licence
- TPI Veteran Affairs Details Report and/or Repatriation Health Card
- No fee is currently applicable.
Terms and conditions of TPI Parking Permit Application
- Conditions of Approval
The holder of an approval must ensure that the conditions of approval are complied with, at all times.
One permit issued to the applicant of TPI repatriation health card.
- Metered / Pay and Display / Regulated Bays
- A vehicle displaying a TPI Permit may park in a Metered or Pay and Display or Regulated Bays within the Cairns Regional Council area only.
- Parking in a Loading Zone, No Standing Zone, No Stopping Zone, No Parking Zone, Bus Zone, Taxi Zone, Emergency Vehicle Zones or Disabled Bays is not permitted.
- A TPI Permit will not guarantee the availability of parking bays when the vehicle is moved out of the parking bays i.e. when the vehicle is moved out of the parking bay another park in the Metered, Pay and Display or Regulated
Parking area is not guaranteed to the permit holder.
- Time restrictions - eg 1P, 2P, 3P - specified on official traffic signs apply
- Term of Approval
- The permit shall be granted for the time specified in the approval, which shall generally be to the end of the current calendar year.
- A permit shall expire on sale or deregistration of the vehicle nominated in the application, if it has not expired earlier.
- Identification
- The Council shall on issuing an approval in accordance with Local Law No. 12 Parking 2016, Part 2, Section 9 (f) issue a vehicle identification label to the holder of the approval.
- The identification label is to be affixed securely to the inside passenger side (lower section) of the windscreen so as to be clearly visible to a person outside the vehicle.
- Council may upon application on the relevant form issue a replacement identification label to the permit holder.
- A person must not -
- Print, manufacture or have in the person's possession or offer for sale of TPI Permit identification label which resembles or is intended to resemble a Council approval identification label; or
- Affix a TPI Permit identification label on any vehicle other than the vehicle for which it was issued; or
- Alter, deface or affix any TPI Permit identification label which contains any incorrect particulars or which is not in force; or
- Fail to affix within the time permitted the identification label issued in respect of a TPI Permit.
- Destruction of Identification Label
The holder of a TPI Permit must destroy the identification label within three (3) days of expiration or revocation of the permit.
- Parking Within Cairns Regional Boundaries
- Council may reserve the right to amend any condition of the TPI Permit subject to notification to the permit holder at any such time it is deemed necessary.
